The 2009 St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling Final will for the second year in a row be fought out by defending champions Ballyhale Shamrocks and James Stephens. Conditions last Sunday were ideal for good hurling but sadly neither game reached the heights you'd expect at this stage of the competition. The champions Ballyhale put in another Jekyll ‘n’ Hyde performance when they took care of the O'Loughlins challenge.

The senior club hurling semi-final between Ballyhale Shamrocks and O’Loughlin Gaels last weekend left the ‘Gaels men disappointed as the Shamrocks pushed forward into the final against James Stephens.

This Sunday’s intermediate and junior finals should make for an intriguing and interesting day of hurling.

Kilkenny forward, Henry Shefflin has joined county compatriot DJ Carey and scooped his ninth GAA hurling All-Star this year following the Cat’s four-in-a-row achievement.

Tullaroan had the dream start in this St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling relegation final held in Callan at the weekend. Both teams battled it out to see who would remain in senior level for 2010.

This was a game Kilkenny would have been expected to win but somebody forgot to hand the visiting team the script. In the end Kilkenny deserved the victory but they can count themselves lucky to get the points. Wicklow were full value for money and could have with more effort snatched the game from Kilkenny.

Never an easy place to travel to and get a result but that is just what Kilkenny did last Sunday in the Leinster League. They got their first win of the League in a hard fought game with both sides committed and showing plenty of respect for each other.

It’s straight into Leinster action this weekend for Ballyhale Shamrocks, who won the Kilkenny title for a fourth successive year when beating James Stephens last Sunday.
